Primary election absentee voting now available

Registered South Dakota voters may begin absentee voting for the June 3 primary starting Tuesday, April 22 at county auditors' offices. For a link to the SD Secretary of State for more information, click here.

Deadline to change party affiliation for Primary: May 18.

South Dakota has a closed primary, meaning only a Democrat can vote in the Democratic Primary. If you are not a Democrat but would like to vote in the June 3 primary, you must change your party affiliation to vote in the Democratic Primary at your county auditor’s office by May 18. SD Voter Info now on Web

A new internet service is available that lets South Dakotans check their voter registration information and view ballots they will be casting for South Dakota's June 3 primary election. The new service, called Voter Information Portal (VIP), also allows voters the opportunity to view their respective Democrat, Republican, or Independent sample primary ballots online.
